A cartridge is a module which includes a circuit board with memory, usually read-only memory (ROM) but may be random-access memory (RAM).

The Amiga originally had space in its memory map for a ROM cartridge, starting at $F00000. The space was later reused for diagnostic boards. This support went away with version 2.0 of the operating system as this space was now used by the Kickstart ROMs.
