Bil Herd is a former Commodore engineer who worked on the Plus/4 series, the C128 and the unreleased LCD computer. He first became familiar with the Amiga by reading a preliminary version of the hardware manual known as the green book.

He never got to work on any Amiga projects while at Commodore but was originally chosen to design the PAL version of the A1000 before the project went to Jeff Porter.
